Chief Reece Pyrtle issued the following email to all employees of the Eden Police Department in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
October is Breast
Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to
increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast
cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in
its early stages and encourage others to do the same. As in the past, we
continue to be touched by friends and family that are impacted by this dreaded
disease.
As such, one small step that we as an organization can take is
recognize the importance of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We
can show our support to the families inside and outside of our
department as well as our community that are affected by this disease. PINK
RIBBON LAPEL PINS have been issued to each uniform and plain clothes officer. I have relaxed the wearing of
the uniform directive so as to allow
and I encourage the wearing of the pink ribbon lapel pin on the uniform over the name plate during the month of October. Please wear this pink pin with pride to show our continued support those individuals that are impacted by breast cancer.
