In the late evening hours of
November 29, 2014 detectives with the Eden Police Department developed a
suspect in the shooting death of Darius Tyron Malloy. The investigation revealed that Luke Landon
Buskirk, 16 years old from Madison, met Mr. Malloy in the parking lot of Dollar
General on Hwy 770 in Eden. During the encounter
Mr. Buskirk shot Mr. Malloy multiple times.
Luke Landon Buskirk was taken into
custody without incident at the Eden Police Department at approximately 6:00
a.m. on November 30, 2014. Mr. Buskirk
has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder. He is set to appear in Wentworth District
Court on December 11, 2014. He is being
held without bond in the Rockingham County Jail.

On November 29, 2014 at
approximately 3:51 p.m., Eden Police Officers responded to the rear entrance of
the shopping center located at 7720 NC 770, in Eden. Upon arrival, officers alerted police
communications that they had located a victim of multiple gunshot wounds lying
on the pavement next to 1985 Chevrolet truck.
Rockingham County EMS responded to the location, but the victim died at
the scene.

Rescue, Eden Fire Department, and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department
responded to the scene to assist Eden Police personnel.
The victim was identified as:
