Arrest of Made in Hit & Run Fatality

On Thursday, October 20, 2016 at approximately 7:05pm the Eden Police Department was dispatched to 323 East Meadow Road in reference to a motor vehicle crash, hit and run fatality.

Tiano Dupree Casey (44) was operating a 2014 Bashan moped traveling east on Meadow Road. A white older model passenger car traveling at a high rate of speed, also traveling east, ran into the back of Casey.  The older model white passenger car fled the scene continuing east on Meadow Road. Tiano Casey died at the scene as a result of the crash. 

 
As a result of a thorough investigation, detectives with the Eden Police Department located the vehicle and driver involved in the hit and run death of Tiano Casey.  Detectives have arrested and charged Jennifer Elaine Stewart (32), of Main Street in Eden, with one count of Felony Failure to Stop or Remain at the Scene When Serious Bodily Injury or Death Occurs G.S. 20-166.

Stewart was transported to the Wentworth Magistrates Office and placed into the Rockingham County Jail under a $10,000 Secured Bond. Stewart is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District Court on November 10, 2016.
