Winter Weather Driving Tips
* Clear all snow and ice form all windows and lights- even the hood and roof- before driving.
* Leave plenty of room for stopping- increase distance between your vehicle and other vehicles
* Pay attention, don't try to out drive the conditions. Remember the posted speed limits are for
dry pavement.
* Use brakes carefully. Brake early. Brake Correctly. Do not aggressively brake or slam on the
brakes. It takes more time and distance to stop in adverse conditions.
* Exit ramps are a greater challenge during winter weather since they may have received less
anti-icing material than the main road.
* Don't use "cruise control" option driving in winter weather. Even roads that appear clear can have
sudden slippery spots and the slightest touch of your brakes to deactivate cruise control can cause
you to lose control of your vehicle.
* Don't get over confident in your 4X4. Remember, if you are driving a four wheel drive vehicle,
the vehicle may help you get going quicker but it won't help you stop quicker.
* Turn on your lights, even during the day!
* Most importantly, please remember to SLOW DOWN! Also, Seat belt should be worn at all
times- it's the law.
