Malloy Arrested for Attempted First Degree Murder

On Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at approximately 6:00pm, detectives with the Eden Police Department and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office arrested Steven Antwan Malloy (25) for the outstanding warrant for Attempted First Degree Murder. Malloy turned himself in to authorities with the assistance of his family members.   

 The Eden Police Department was assisted by the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina Highway Patrol and the North Carolina Highway Patrol Air Unit during the initial hours of this investigation.  The assistance by the agencies is another great example Rockingham County agencies working together to keep our communities safe. 

 

 

At this time there is no bond information available.  Malloy is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on June 10, 2015

On Tuesday, May 26 2015, at approximately 1:14pm, Rockingham County CCOM received a 911 call from 500 Price Street in reference to a shooting incident.  Officers arrived on scene and found a female victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was identified as Jalessa Settle (26) of Price Street Eden.  Settle was transported to Moses Cone Hospital by Rockingham County EMS. 

The shooting incident at 500 Price Street was in close proximity to Douglas Elementary Scholl.  Douglas Elementary was notified of the shooting incident and as a precaution activated lock down procedures at the school.  As the investigation unfolded, it was determined the suspect had fled the area on foot headed south on Price Street from the scene of the shooting incident and away from Douglas Elementary School.  Douglas Elementary dismissed a few minutes late due to the lock down.  Eden Officers remained on scene during the dismissal as a precaution.

As a result of the investigation, the Eden Police Department is currently attempting to locate Steven Antwan Malloy (25) for one count of Attempted First Degree Murder.  Malloy has previous addresses in Eden, Reidsville and Greensboro.
