Arrest in Breaking and Entering Cases

Tony Dean Smith (Additional Charges in Joint Investigation)

On August 18, 2014, at approximately 12:34am, officers with the Eden Police Department responded to Eden Auto Sales at 915 Washington Street in Eden in reference to a breaking and entering. Officers arrived to find a glass door broken out and damage to the power meter of the business. Items in the business had been tampered with but there was nothing taken during the breaking and entering.

At approximately 3:30am, the Eden Police Department found that Boss Motors at 206 Boone Road was a victim of a breaking and entering and larceny.  During this break in a Ford Explorer that was on the lot for sale had been stolen and used in the break in of the Eden Jewelry Store on Freeway Drive in Reidsville. 

The Eden Police Department, working a joint investigation with the Reidsville Police Department and Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office has charged Tony Dean Smith with the following crimes.

Eden Auto Sales     
Felony Breaking and Entering                                            (1count)
Misdemeanor Injury to Real Property                               (1count)

Boss Motor Company
Felony Breaking and Entering                                            (1count)
Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering                    (1count)
Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle                                     (1count)

Tony Smith is currently under a $210,000 secured bond in Rockingham County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District Court on September 2, 2014.
