Vandalism in Leakesville- Arrest Made

On Thursday, March 20, 2014 at approximately 4:00am, officers with the Eden Police Department and Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office found business’ on Washington Street had been vandalized. The suspect(s) spray painted different locations with red spray paint.  Officers began to canvass the neighborhood and look for other victims of the vandalism. Officers found the mural at the intersection of Henry Street and Washington Street vandalized, as well as several vehicles at David Price Auto Works, located on Monroe Street.

 Officers began to canvass the neighborhood and found multiple other businesses vandalized as well as street signs and the roadway.  As result of the information learned from the canvass of the neighborhood, officers went to 635 Patterson Street, the residence of Skylar Dewayne Dix (19).   Officer spoke with Skylar Dix and found clothes with red paint on them, red paint on Skylar Dix’s hands and an empty can of red spray paint in the trash can.

Skylar Dix has been charged with twenty (20) counts of Injury to Real Property.  Dix was transported to the Wentworth Magistrates Office where he was placed into the Rockingham County Jail under a $5000.00 secured bond.  Dix is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District Court on May 19, 2014.

At this time the investigation is continuing.  Officers and investigators have identified other victims of vandalism and charges are pending on the remaining incidents.
