The Eden Police Department Investigative Unit has been diligently
working the death of Larry “Bud” Settle Jr. which occurred on Tuesday, April
26, 2016 at 12:23am. As a result of a
thorough investigation and consultation with Rockingham County District
Attorney Craig Blitzer, detectives with the Eden Police Department secured a
warrant for arrest for Rontae Devore Hayes (37) for the charge of First Degree
Murder.
On Monday, May 9, 2016, Eden Police Department detectives requested
assistance from the Greensboro Police Department to assist in apprehending
Rontae Hayes for the outstanding warrant for arrest.
On Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at approximately 9:15am Rontae Devore Hayes was
arrested, without incident, for the outstanding warrant of First Degree Murder. Hayes was taken into custody by Greensboro
Police Department at his residence on Fewell Road in Greensboro, North
Carolina.
During the course of the investigation the Eden Police Department has
been assisted by the FBI Safe Street’s Task Force and the Greensboro Police
Department.
Hayes was transported to the Greensboro Police Department for
processing and later transferred to the Rockingham County Jail. Hayes was
placed into the Rockingham County Jail under No Bond.
